Joining Hands to Shine Forth God\'s Love & Justice in Cambodia

about me.

My name is Aimee Jane and I am just a girl seeking to know and follow Jesus Christ.  I want to be part of a reaction not a movement. And I want to show God’s Just and Loving heart to others.  I just graduated from CBU and am now moving to Cambodia in hopes of following Truth, and glorifying God’s work in my life.

Why did I join Chab Dai?

At the start of my final semester at CBU I began exploring post-graduation options (like all almost grads do!). Two classes specifically influenced me enormously, one was Marketplace Strategies for Global Advancement where I studied a city extensively: Phnom Penh (capitol of Cambodia). The other was Christians in the Public Square which required semester long research on an issue: mine was human trafficking.

It was to my surprise when during one week of committed prayer for my future that both human trafficking and Cambodia collided numerous times.

I met the US Director of Chab Dai for coffee, she offered me the job, and the rest is details of history…

What will my job be?

Chab Dai is a coalition of more than 40 Christian organizations in Cambodia who are working with victims of or those at risk of being trafficked, abused or exploited. The words “Chab Dai” mean “joining hands” in Khmer (the language of Cambodia).

Started in 2005, Chab Dai’s director Helen Sworn recognized the need for collaboration among organizations because of the highly-organized traffickers.  (This is what I particularly LOVE about Chab Dai!)

Chab Dai focuses on building a learning community and networking organizations to collaborate their efforts, research, and resources. I will be joining a staff of about 15 people, a handful of foreign volunteers and a majority of nationals. I will be working as the Communications Officer and the Assistant to the Director. My main job responsibilities will be central administration support and encouraging our member organizations.
